Alternative Medicine Is an Option

We define acupuncture as the art of manipulating the body through the use of needles at specific points on the body to create therapeutic responses to disease conditions. At MarketPlace Veterinary Hospital, we use acupuncture to treat a variety of conditions, including:

  • Arthritis pain
  • Neurology
  • Metabolic concerns
  • Spinal difficulties

Acupuncture is well respected in contemporary medicine, in both humans and animals, and numerous studies point to the success of this treatment.

The primary benefit to acupuncture is its success in controlling pain. In dogs with severe disc disease we often see positive results, both in regained function and improved recovery after surgery.

Our alternative medicine specialist, Dr. Angela Stamm, received her certificate in veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Dr. Stamm uses acupuncture for pain management, neurologic conditions, and many other problems. She has additional training in integrative medicine, including nutrition and herbal medicine.
